Retreat.
This week, we went on a retreat to maynooth university. Every year, we take one day out of our school calender to reflect on ourselves and learn how to live our lives without missing a moment. On Wednesday, we learned how to do this by playing games and by solving problems among the group. One of the games we played was called teeth where the dentists had to pull the "teeth" from the group and then themselves became dentists. We had to keep going until there were just two girls left. Afterwards, we played a game called "sharks" where we had to get into groups of the number that was called. Hannah Mahon and Aoife Smith came second. Overall it was great day and I would love to go again.

GAISCE
On Friday 24th and Saturday 25th of April, 40 students took part in the presidents award. In order to complete our GAISCE we had to walk a total of 25 Kilometers through the Wicklow Mountains.
When we arrived we all were given a house each. The people in my house were Aisling Kavanagh, Molly Mooney, Meadhbh Costello, Pia Mitchell, Jane Cummins, Clara Quinn and Anna Hepple. We all put our bags in our house and then set out on our hike. The hike took us four and a half hours long and the sun was shining the whole. We could see all of Dublin when we reached the top.
Unfortunately on the second day, the skies had darkened and it started to rain. We had all hoped that the hike would be cancelled because of the bad weather but before we knew it we were all in a bus heading to the start of our route. Although it was raining on the ground, the weather got worse as we headed upward. It got colder and colder and the rain gradually turned to snow. We all tried to finish the hike as fast as we could as we were all freezing, tired and hungry (shoutout to Ms. McMahon). Eventually, we got back to our houses and changed back into our pyjamas and went home.
Overall, I think Gaisce was a great experience and i recommend it to everyone.

Santry
This week, a few of our athletic students competed in Santry. Over the past few years, we have been quite successful in beating Mount Sackville for the Best Girls School in West Leinster award. This year was no exception. On each of the event days St. Wolstans were very successful winning medals in events such as Hammer, Race Walk, Relay, Javelin, High Jump, Triple Jump and many more.
Well done to all the athletes that competed!!

Somewhere I would like to visit when I leave school.
Greece is strategically located at the crossroads of Europe,
Asia and Africa. It shares land borders with Albania to the northwest, the
Republic of Macedonia and Bulgaria to the north and Turkey to the northeast.
The Aegean Sea lies to the east of the mainland, the Ionian Sea to the west,
and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. Greece has the longest coastline on the
Mediterranean Basin and the 11th longest coastline in the world. However, I
don't want to visit Greece for Geography, I would love to go for
1. They've got a very rich history and culture
I believe that history and culture always go hand in hand. A culture roots down from the history of a particular place and with Greece’s history dating as far back as 3000 years ago, I think anyone will agree with me that they've got a very rich one.

2. They've got fantastic weather
The weather
in Greece, like most places, changes
with the seasons. It also depended on whether you were in Northern Greece near
Thermopylae, or in Southern Greece near Sparta. In the spring, it would be
pretty rainy, especially in Northern Greece, and the plants would get green and
leafy. The temperature would generally be from
10-20 degrees Celsius. Then in the summer, it would be hot and dry.
Farmers would harvest the wheat at the beginning of the summer, in June. It
hardly rains at all in Greece in the summer, especially in Southern Greece. In
Northern Greece sometimes there are
thunderstorms in the summer. In Northern Greece it would generally be
about 30 degrees Celsius but in Southern Greece it could get up over 40 degrees
Celsius pretty often.
3. Its a colourful country
Does the combination of blue and white remind you of Greece? It does for me but after googling hundreds of images of the country, I realized that there are some other colors splashed to this amazing country that will probably make all the painters, artists and photographers go crazy about.
4. It has a very diverse nature
From Lefkada to Igoumenitsa, there are a lot of different sceneries like rolling hills, mountains, rocky walls, lakes and the sea. It has all kinds of things to offer for just about anyone. This applies to the beaches that they have too. There are rocky beaches, sandy beaches, pebbled beaches, beaches hidden inside a cave or beaches which can only be accessed by the 300 steep steps. It’s amazing!
5. It’s on my bucket list
Admit it, who doesn't want to go to Greece? At some point, everyone might have probably dreamed of seeing the Acropolis or the whites and blues of Santorini and Mykonos. In my opinion Greece is one of the most beautiful and cultural places in the world.

Fashion Show
This week in St.Wolstans, we had a fashion show. Everyone involved had a great time preforming, modeling and viewing. My group went on stage third, right after Megan Long's group who were modeling clothes from Oasis.
